Pancreaticoduodenectomy in a tertiary referral center in Indonesia, Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (CMH): a single center experience

Pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) as a treatment of choice for periampullary tumors is associated with significant risk morbidity and mortality even in developed HPB center. Resectable cases are found only 10% to 20% cases. Indonesia due its geographical characteristics make it arduous treat patients tertiary referral center only. We presenting our experience PD from 1993-2019. A retrospective review was conducted who underwent From 1998 2019, 188 PD. Of these we were able provide the medical records 178 The mean age 55 (range 17-73), 84 (47.1%) males 94 (52.8%) females. most common symptom jaundice 70% abdominal pain 18% patients. Patients required pre-operative bile duct compression 83.2%. There 59.5% Pyloric preserving 40.5% standard Whipple procedure operative time 393 min (240-640) estimated blood loss 450 cc. Re-laparatomy experienced by 16% commonest post pancreatic fistula 21.7%. Surgical rate 19%. provides chance cure set-up. Further improvement needed manage complexity that may help curtail postoperative rate.
